Stop Planning & Researching – Now is the Time to go and DO it

Eventually you have to stop planning and researching and just DO. From there, find out what works for you.The internet is a wealth of information. Whether you are starting, growing, changing, tearing down and rebuilding your business – every question you could ever need answered can be found online.

Oh, and the forums! The glorious forums online, where those of us that work alone can find and connect with our peers and ask them all of the juicy questions we have about how to improve our business. I love the forums. You can find me there often answering your questions, and questioning your answers. For over 15 years now, it is my favorite place to be, it fills me with such fire!

There is a definite down side to all of this though – Information Overload. After awhile, the answers start to conflict with one another. The information from one source says to do one thing, and another says something completely different. What works for one person so well doesn’t work at all for someone else. They are both people that you trust, so who do you listen to? What should you do? What should you try?

Eventually, all the planning and researching are no longer helping you. Instead, they are just holding you back from actually DOING what you want to do.

Do you ever find yourself caught up in the whirlwind of information? Stuck? Not sure what direction to go?

So many people use the excuse of preparing, planning and studying to never get off the bench and get in the game. Are you one of them?

There is wisdom and truth in the advice to fail fast & fail often. Jump. Try something. Test it out. If it doesn’t work? Adjust it, try again. Find what works for you, what you’re comfortable with, what fits your market, what resonates with your ideal client.

There is no shortcut to this step; you just need to get out there and go for it.

As long as it isn’t brain surgery and you’re not going to kill anyone with it, you’ll be ok. Keep your eyes open. Look for the holes, and fill them. Being an entrepreneur requires a little risk and a dose of fear.

If you need help, don’t worry. The internet will still be there with more information and there will be more people with suggestions on how to make it work. You need to be armed with knowing what works best FOR YOU first for it to be truly helpful. Otherwise? It is all noise adding to your analysis paralysis.

What step forward are you going to take today? Tell us in the comments what you’ll do over the next week, and lets get things going!
