Some lessons take a long time to learn, others download overnight.
14600 days. That’s how long it took to accept the last learning curve I came across.
40 years.
Everything I had been seeking was finally right in front of me.
In the months that lead up to my big 4-0, I feverishly polled all my friends who had been chilling on this planet longer than I about their experience with 40.
There were 2 main themes that emerged from the chatter:
1. Your BS meter is set to very low and you don’t put up with any crap. Like, none. It’s like your tolerance for games and chaos goes out the window. You say what you mean and you mean what you say.
2. Your self-assurance and confidence skyrockets and your really get back in touch with your body.
Big lofty concepts. I slept on them, I journaled about them, but only time would reward me with the experience of feeling truly liberated.
And it did.
The 1st day of my 40th spin around the sun, I woke up with an overwhelming need to liberate myself of the old cords that tied me to friendships that had passed their expiry date. Relationships that hung suspended in time, waits for one of us to cut the ties. I promptly called up my 2 friends to complete the long awaited conversations and thank them for the memories, the fun and the lessons. Then I released them.
As for my body, my self-assuredness and my confidence, I felt an immediate call to
Move, to dance, to seek out pleasure. Sensual experiences sought me out and I let them in, trusting my body to respond accordingly, in alignment with my unique desire blueprint. I have always been in sync with my sensual energies and responses – but wow, 40 provided a massive upgrade in sensation and response that I could have never imagined.
I am looking forward to my future days and coming years.
