Are You Ready for 2015?

As 2014 draws to a close, I find myself looking forward to the year ahead. 2014 was an amazing year for me, kicking off with a bang, and then slowing a bit in the latter half, which has given me more time for planning for what’s next.

Last year, Christine and I wrote a journal prompt series designed to help you reflect on the past year and prepare for the next. If you’re looking for a way to start 2015 off right, check them out!

#1  – 2013 Word of the Year – As you reflect on 2013, what word comes to mind? Was there a predominant theme for this year that you see coming up over and over again when you look back?

#2 – Clearing the Clutter – What is weighing you down? Is it physical clutter, or emotional clutter? Has work taken over your life? Is your closet stuffed to the point of overflowing? Do you need to hold on, or is it time to let some things go?

#3 – What Does Your Age Mean to You? – How old were you on your last birthday? Does that number hold any special meaning to you? Did you look forward to it, or dread it?

#4 – Letting Go of Negative Emotions  – Have you ever stopped to consider how much space negative emotions take up inside of you? If you imagined the thing that has your belly tied up in knots – worry, fear, shame, sadness, guilt, jealousy – whatever it is, as something dark, and solid, how much of you would be covered with it, filled by it?

#5 – What Was Your Greatest Success This Year? – What was your greatest success this year? Have you conquered anything? Made any big changes? Is your life coming together the way you want it to?

#6 – What Do You Want to Learn? – Is there anything you’ve always wished you new how to do yourself? Have there been things you’ve avoided learning in the past, or felt intimidated by for whatever reason?

#7 – What Word or Phrase Will You Eliminate This Year?  – Which phrase or word will you work to eliminate from your vocabulary this year? Why that one? Do you see the damage it is doing? How will you commit to avoiding its use? What will you say instead?

#8 – Setting Goals – Are you a goal setter? Will you be making goals for 2015? Or do you prefer to not make goals? Why do you choose whether or not to make goals? How have goals helped you achieve things in the past?

#9 – Dream Big – What are your big dreams? List them all out – every single one of them. If you aim for the stars, and can do ANYTHING you want, what would you want to do?

#10- 2014 Word of the Year  – What do you want for your life this year? Your business?

I’m the sort of girl who you meet for coffee and end up pouring your entire heart out to. The friend you come to when you need someone to call it straight. No bullshit. No extras. Just truth.

I’m a communicator. That’s a PC way of saying I like to talk, but I also spend a lot of my time listening, and over the years, I’ve developed a sense for subtext – how one or two words can change your entire message, what people are really trying to say and how to weave the varied layers of your story into one cohesive brand message that your clients fall in love with.

When I'm not acting as editor in chief for Vivid & Brave, you can find me geeking out over words here.
