I was browsing through Facebook when I scrolled by the holiday ad for Kate Spade. There they were. GOLD GLITTER KEDS. Keds for Kate Spade. With gold glitter on them. I immediately shared them on my Facebook wall and said that I must have them.
When Mike came home from work that night and I told him that we simply had to go to the Galleria after dinner, he knew. I was on a mission. Those sparkle shoes simply HAD to be mine.
I almost squealed out loud when I walked in to the store and saw them on display with the companion style of gold polka dots. The sales clerk went to the back and brought out my size, and I tried them on. They made me smile. I purchased them without a moment’s hesitation.
They are quickly becoming a staple of my wardrobe. I plan outfits around wearing them. I’m adding gold glitter to my business branding materials. (I made a gold glitter iPhone case, but quickly had to abandon it because it made my wifi connection drop to almost nothing.) Gold glitter for everyone and everything!
What is that one wardrobe item that always makes you smile when you put it on?
And I just have to ask … do you like to Sparkle Party? (Yes, I like to Sparkle Party…)

Wow… that video is slightly scary. My favorite color is sparkles!! 😀
Just wanted to let you know that I almost always see your blog posts on FB. You know I seldom comment. And does the glitter stay on or do you drop it everywhere you go?
Katy Witt Cox the glitter has all stayed on! I have made sure not to wear them in the rain though — I suspect that could cause a problem!
me too christine
I have to answer the question because for me it’s also a shoe item. With an impossibly long backstory which I will not recount, though you will understand to what I owe my abnormally large feet being two different sizes. I was a semi-reasonable 9 for most of my adult life. Circumstances, as referred to above, caused my left foot to grow to a hard to find but still not impossible 10 (and also removed any hope of wearing my beloved platform shoe collection ever again). Being pregnant upped each foot by one size. In short I have one size 11 foot and one size 10 foot and mostly am confined to Clark’s and Chucks (and am on the verge of giving up entirely soon and starting to shop them men’s shoe aisle at DSW).
So with all that said, I have for a very long time wanted a pair of white go-go boots. Theoretically more attainable now that I could possibly shop at Drag Queen shoe stores, but I’m no longer in NYC so really that was not really happening.
Anyway, one day I receive a lovely piece of spam from ShoeMint, a spin-off of the tragically hip Kate SomebodyOrOther jewelry success Jewelmint. They’re offering 50% off any pair of shoes on the site to sign up. I think no way would this site aimed mainly at 20-somethings have my size. But being in whatever mood and for reasons I will never understand, I click over and look around. And there they were, a pair of white boots. Not so much go-go, but go-go crossed with Doc Martin. Thick black soled, super funky, leather, double zipper up the middle. I drool. I cry. I bemoan that which I have already bemoaned for years. I click the size button. ELEVEN!!!!! Really!?!?!?! Those is were in the mail faster than I could type my cc number.
I was pretty scared when they arrived. Pretty sure I would have to use the free return shipping. Much to my utter amazement THEY FIT!!! At first my feet, and after the swelling went down, zipped all the way up my leg. I swear I lived I them for weeks – in the hot Florida summer.
So that.
And no, I don’t ever see your blog posts on Facebook. I wish I did. Maybe after this you’re not so sure about that anymore, 😉
Faith, I LOVE your shoe story! Especially knowing you for years, I can just imagine (1) how hot those shoes are! (Hot in the sexy way, not hot in the Florida summer way) and (2) how much they mean to you! LOVE!
